Theme

On May 18, 1980 (hence the use of 5.18), a major volcanic eruption occurred at Mount St. Helens, a volcano located in the state of Washington, United States. The eruption (a VEI 5 event) was the only significant one to occur in the contiguous 48 U.S. states since the 1915 eruption of Lassen Peak in California. This show pays tribute to the beauty of the mountain, the power of the explosion and the aftermath in four parts: Majestic Mountain, Spirit Lake, Eruption and Rebirth. Internet research will provide you with a plethora of imagery for your field show production. With the advent of digital backdrops and flags, you should have no trouble creating scenery, props, equipment and costumes for your presentation. This show offers many unique musical moments and ideas that would work well with many themes or guard ideas.
