A crowd favorite and state championship-winning show, Wake Up! tells the classic story of a young girl and the monster who lives under the bed. The opening movement of Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” provides a dissonant and ominous atmosphere that represents the beginning of the monster’s haunting. The iconic 90’s tune from the Pixies “Where Is My Mind?” gives our young character space to slow down and contemplate her sanity. Are the monsters around us even real? Or is it all just in our heads? “After Dark” by popular internet artist Mr. Kitty slowly builds in, just as our character falls asleep, and the monster comes out to play and dance in the darkness of night. Original music by Jeff Chambers is mashed with a recapitulation of “Bring Me To Life” as the monster turns our sweet dream into a chaotic nightmare. Will we ever wake up?
